Training Course on Biosafety and Biosecurit

The 3-day training, the 4th session in a series on Quality Management Systems (QMS) in Laos brought together 40 medical professionals from hospitals and labs to enhance lab systems for ISO 15189 certification. Participants worked on identifying improvements, developing plans, and aligning their efforts with ISO standards. Key topics included biosafety, biosecurity, antimicrobial resistance, and emerging diseases.

Using the AMP model, participants assessed bio-risks and lab hazards, focusing on enhancing biosafety and lab practices. The session also emphasized capacity building and the importance of regional collaboration to strengthen Laos’ health systems. The training highlighted improvements in SOPs, equipment calibration, and the need for continuous QMS development towards ISO certification.
